Schengen visa rejection rates for Indians are among the highest in the world

According to recent Schengen visa reports , Indians applied for over 6 lakh applications in 2022–the third highest in the world, but also suffered a steep rejection rate of 18%.

Estonia rejected the highest number of visas from India in 2022 – 56% of 1,986 applications. Malta had a rejection rate of 45%, and Slovenia rejected 44.5% of visa applications.

Germany had the lowest schengen visa for Indian rejection rate. Bengaluru consulate rejected only 8 Schengen visa applications, Kolkata rejected 1 application, and Chennai 2.

The Schengen area covers 26 countries — 22 EU plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. Around 1.7 million people live in one Schengen
